Sam and Moses: A Short Story

The short story Sam and Moses is set in industrial Middlesbrough in August 1889. Moses Carpenter arrives with Sequah's Medicine Show touring Great Britain and Ireland. Sam is a young boy who loves the spectacle of the show and loves Moses who is like no one else he has ever met. Sequah was an advertising genius but didn't advertise was that he'd been born William Henry Hartley. Moses was Ska-Yun-Ya-Te, a Mohawk far from home who had found a sense of belonging.
